Audition FAQ

What should I wear?
Form fitting clothes that you can move in. You are welcome to bring any dance shoes that you feel comfortable in but they are not required (Jake does not like jazz shoes but respects individualism...)

Who will be at the audition?
As Toy Guns is a collaborative effort between a team of artists there may be company members dancing alongside you at the audition. You will see that we have a very diverse team of artists currently working with us and that we each bring unique personal and artist strength to the work we do. In this way we hope to create a supportive atmosphere in the room for your benefit and this allows us to see how you fit in with our team.

What are we looking for?
The best word we have found to describe what we are looking for is people who are great or who are in pursuit of greatness. The backgrounds of our performers are incredibly varied but all of us have dedicated ourselves to making a career in the performing arts. If you are passionate about pursuing a career in art and looking for an opportunity to further your skills while doing high level performing work then Toy Guns may be the place for you.

“I don’t want to waste your time.”
(Or any of the other self effacing thoughts that go through the minds of people who hold themselves to extremely high standards.)
You are probably the person we are looking for. The truth is that what we do on stage is meant to be incredible and we are looking for people who have high standards for themselves personally and artistically. Toy Guns is constantly in a state of development and we are looking for people that can grow with us. Especially in the case of apprentices we are not looking for professional dancers we are looking for people with a passion to learn and grow.

I can’t make the auditions in Edmonton but I will be in Edmonton for the summer season.
Can I still audition?

Yes, we are happy to have a look at your resume, head-shot, and links to videos of you dancing. From there we can arrange an alternate time to audition or gather any addition informational we need.
